Hi. I’m Barrie Cooper, the owner of this site. I am a Christian living in Dawlish, England and a regular churchgoer to Mount Olive, where I lead worship once or twice a month.
I am always struck by the varied and incredible ways that people become Christians and I’ve come to realise that there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to evangelism. I hope that in time this site will host a range of testimonies and that at least one of them speaks personally to you.
I am also concerned about the polarisation of debates around Christianity and the misrepresentation of many on both sides of the arguments when the media pits staunch Christian against staunch atheist. For this reason, I hope that this site can promote intelligent debate and that non-Christians also feel able to share their testimonies.
In my day job I am a senior lecturer in mathematics at the University of Exeter, so I like to think I know a little about truth, proof and logical reasoning – but that certainly doesn’t mean I’m always right! My personal journey to becoming a Christian has been through studying the historical evidence for Jesus being the Son of God and my personal conclusion is that, on balance, there is sufficient evidence to support this. As far as I am concerned there is no proof or even a “killer” fact – it is a question of weighing up evidence with potential explanations and coming to some sort of conclusion.
I am always happy to hear your thoughts on how I can improve this site and if you feel suitably inclined you can register and start adding your own posts and comments.
May God bless you and keep you close,
Barrie.
